St. RosaliaPatron Saint of: Palermo, Sicily, and against plague Feast Day: September 4 St. Rosalia (1130–1166 A.D.) was born to a wealthy and noble Norman family, descendants of Charlemagne who had migrated to Sicily. From a young age Rosalia was strongly drawn to Christ, which caused her to leave her life of wealth and comfort to follow Him in complete solitude as a hermitess. Tradition holds that St. Rosalia was led by two angels to a cave near Palermo where she spent the rest of her life in prayer, complete solitude, and works of penance. On the cave wall she wrote “I, Rosalia, daughter of Sinibald, Lord of Roses, and Quisquina, have taken the resolution to live in this cave for the love of my Lord, Jesus Christ.” Centuries later, when a plague was ravaging Palermo, her relics were discovered in the cave by a hunter to whom she had appeared in order to direct him to their location. Rosalia instructed the hunter to have her relics carried in procession three times around the city, after which the plague ceased. St. Rosalia was credited with saving the city, and a sanctuary was erected in her cave which remains a pilgrimage site to this day. St. Rosalia is the patron of Palermo and Sicily, Italy. Her feast day is September 4th.

Thus should one regard us: as servants of Christ
and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Now it is of course required of stewards
that they be found trustworthy.
It does not concern me in the least
that I be judged by you or any human tribunal;
I do not even pass judgment on myself;
I am not conscious of anything against me,
but I do not thereby stand acquitted;
the one who judges me is the Lord.
Therefore, do not make any judgment before the appointed time,
until the Lord comes,
for he will bring to light what is hidden in darkness
and will manifest the motives of our hearts,

Daily Meditation: 1 Corinthians 4:1-5 . . . stewards of the mysteries of God. (1 Corinthians 4:1) Not long ago, it was common for families to have everyday plates and dishes as well as “the good china,” which was reserved only for special occasions. These fancy place settings were carefully stored away until the next Christmas, Easter, or other large family gathering. The caution is understandable; everyone wants to be “trustworthy” with such a valuable possession (1 Corinthians 4:2). No one wants to take any chances with a precious gift like a delicate china set. But consider if St. Paul had been this cautious in the way he handled “the mysteries of God,” which are worth far more than the most expensive table setting (1 Corinthians 4:1). Imagine the cities and towns that never would have heard the gospel! No, as precious as the truths of the gospel are, Paul knew also how strong and durable they are. He knew that being a steward of God’s mysteries includes more than keeping them safe and secure. It includes sharing them with everyone. Even more important, Paul knew that the Holy Spirit was strong enough to fill his proclamation with a divine grace that would speak to those he evangelized. So even if Paul wasn’t eloquent or persuasive every time he spoke, he trusted that the Spirit could make up for his weaknesses. While the term applies primarily to bishops and priests, we are all “stewards” of the mysteries of God since we are all called to share the treasure of the gospel with the people around us (1 Corinthians 4:1). Have you ever found yourself being too tentative when sharing your faith? Do you wonder if you’re good enough for the Lord to speak through you? Or maybe you worry that you might mess up if you try to talk about God’s work in your life. There’s always the risk of “breaking a plate,” but don’t let that keep you from trying. Maybe you won’t do everything just right. That’s okay, because nobody’s perfect. And it doesn’t change the fact that God has entrusted you with a great and precious treasure that he wants you to share. He knows you’re an earthen vessel of his grace (2 Corinthians 4:7). But he also knows that his grace is strong and resilient—and you can rely on him! “Jesus, thank you for entrusting me with the treasures of your gospel!” Psalm 37:3-6, 27-28, 39-40

Is that what our Lord meant with the new wine skins order?
Last night in bible study, we learned about our Lord's visit with the woman at the well, a Samaritan, a harlot in a sense, she had 5 husbands and the current one was not her husband.
Our Lord said for her to come give her water.
She apologized and said Samaritans do not mingle with Jews.
We learned that she represented Israel, and the 5 different groups it was composed of…all who had gone astray from true worship, because she interjected about where to worship.
Our Lord said that HE would be the new worship place, as HE would establish.
So, out with the old? No. But the temple, it would be destroyed as He said. So out with the old? No. Here is a new sacrifice on earth. He is the lamb. He is God. The only true worship on earth now is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Everybody else that claims "worship" is not true, not in the true sense of the word as was in the Old Testament.
So how does this pertain to us today?
They say that in Heaven, everything is always new.
Revelation: "And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ Also he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’"
2nd Corinthians:
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."
What does this mean? Baptism? Yes.
What else does it mean? Repentance? Reconciliation? Yes.
What does this mean? What else? Holy Spirit? Confirmation? Yes.
All things are Christ centered. All things in Him are new. Born again? Yes. New life in the Spirit? Yes!
Again, they say all things are new in Heaven…and with Christ…we are in Him….
A clue word was given in another bible study this week: pliable.
To be pliable, we must let Him soften our hearts…to mold them, as He likes. That should lead us through… humility to obedience, to purity, to God's own heart. Lord help us. Help us love Thee more and more. It is First Friday.
