†Today's Meditation
"I desire that you know more profoundly the love that burns in My Heart for souls, and you will understand this when you meditate upon My Passion. Call upon My mercy on behalf of sinners; I desire their salvation. When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give him the grace of conversion. This is the prayer: 'O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You.' "

All Dominican Saints

November 7th is the Feast of All Saints of the Order of Preachers, also known as the Dominicans. Founded by a Spaniard, St. Dominic de Guzman, in France in the early 13th century, the order has 14 canonized saints and 215 beatified among its mendicant friars, cloistered nuns, active sisters, lay members, and fraternities. The special charism of the Dominican order is to study and preach for the salvation of souls. Over the centuries, the unnamed Dominican martyrs are counted in the tens of thousands, including many among the Martyrs of Nagasaki and the Martyrs of Vietnam. Some of the most famous Dominican saints include St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Rose of Lima, St. Martin de Porres, Pope St. Pius V, St. Vincent Ferrer, St. Hyacinth, St. Louis de Montfort, St. Albert the Great, St. Louis Bertrand, St. Catherine de Ricci, St. Margaret of Hungary, St. Peter Martyr, and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.

Monday of the Thirty-second Week in Ordinary Time

Lectionary: 491
Reading 1

Ti 1:1-9

Paul, a slave of God and Apostle of Jesus Christ
for the sake of the faith of God's chosen ones
and the recognition of religious truth,
in the hope of eternal life
that God, who does not lie, promised before time began,
who indeed at the proper time revealed his word
in the proclamation with which I was entrusted
by the command of God our savior,
to Titus, my true child in our common faith:
grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our savior.

For this reason I left you in Crete
so that you might set right what remains to be done
and appoint presbyters in every town, as I directed you,
on condition that a man be blameless,
married only once, with believing children
who are not accused of licentiousness or rebellious.
For a bishop as God's steward must be blameless, not arrogant,
not irritable, not a drunkard, not aggressive,
not greedy for sordid gain, but hospitable, a lover of goodness,
temperate, just, holy, and self-controlled,
holding fast to the true message as taught
so that he will be able both to exhort with sound doctrine
and to refute opponents.

Responsorial Psalm

Ps 24:1b-2, 3-4ab, 5-6

R. (see 6) Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.
The LORD's are the earth and its fullness;
the world and those who dwell in it.
For he founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the rivers.
R. Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.
Who can ascend the mountain of the LORD?
or who may stand in his holy place?
He whose hands are sinless, whose heart is clean,
who desires not what is vain.
R. Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.
He shall receive a blessing from the LORD,
a reward from God his savior.
Such is the race that seeks for him,
that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.
R. Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.

Alleluia

Phil 2:15d, 16a

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Shine like lights in the world,
as you hold on to the word of life.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel

Lk 17:1-6

Jesus said to his disciples,
"Things that cause sin will inevitably occur,
but woe to the one through whom they occur.
It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck
and he be thrown into the sea
than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin.
Be on your guard!
If your brother sins, rebuke him;
and if he repents, forgive him.
And if he wrongs you seven times in one day
and returns to you seven times saying, 'I am sorry,'
you should forgive him."

And the Apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."
The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed,
you would say to this mulberry tree,
'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you."

Daily Meditation: Luke 17:1-6

Increase our faith. (Luke 17:5)

Rarely in the Gospels does Jesus give a straightforward answer to any question. It seems he often prefers to answer with a challenge of some kind. In this way, he gives us new, fresh, and sometimes perplexing insights into how his Father works.

That's what happens in today's reading when Jesus' apostles asked him to increase their faith. Instead of telling them step-by-step how to grow in faith, Jesus uses images like mustard seeds and mulberry trees. His answer to their question may leave us feeling just as puzzled as the apostles probably felt!

Mustard seeds are tiny, but the truth is, you need just a little bit of faith when you have a great, big God. We know that our God is powerful: he can save, restore, redeem, heal, and do more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). With such a God, we don't need to wait until our faith grows to ask for what we need. We only need to pray with what little faith we do have. We know that God, the Creator of the universe, can do the impossible. He can even uproot a mulberry tree!

We just may see the Lord do some amazing things in answer to our prayers, and this can surely increase our faith in him. And yet we all know that sometimes his answers to our prayers look very different than what we had expected or hoped for. This doesn't mean that he hasn't heard us, of course. Rather, because he is a great God, his ways are beyond our ways (see Isaiah 55:9). When we choose to leave the outcome of our prayers in his hands, we are giving our faith a chance to grow. We are choosing to believe that he is working, even when we can't see it.

So let's look at that little mustard seed of faith as a seed of trust as well, one that will grow in us as we continue to walk with the Lord. When we pray, let's look to God's greatness, not our own lack of faith. Let's also place our needs and desires in his hands. As we do, we may see our faith increasing. Maybe not enough to cast a mulberry tree into the sea, but perhaps in some surprising and amazing ways nonetheless.

"Lord Jesus, with the little faith I do have, I place my trust in you."

Titus 1:1-9
Psalm 24:1-6

From today's 1st Holy Scripture:
_"Paul, a slave of God and Apostle of Jesus Christ
for the sake of the faith of God's chosen ones
and the recognition of religious truth,
in the hope of eternal life..."

Everything hinges on our faith, right? Even that of eternal life, right? Every moment counts on earth. Every second, every thought, every little hair on your head even. What does God want? Right? He wants us for some reason...to do HIS will....for the love of Love.

psalms

We pray today;
_"Who can ascend the mountain of the LORD?
or who may stand in his holy place? He whose hands are sinless, whose heart is clean, who desires not what is vain.

Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face."_

This verse kinda makes one want to be sinless, right? To be able to enter HIS Holy place, right? To have a clean heart, right? To desire nothing that is vain. And sins are all vanity.

2cents2

In the Gospel today we heard our Master and Teacher:
""Things that cause sin will inevitably occur,
but woe to the one through whom they occur."

We encounter sin, and sometimes without even looking for it, just hits you. Take heart. Forgive. Ask for forgiveness. It's the ONLY WAY. Reconciliation. Confession. Reuniting with God our Love. He's giving us the WAY to heaven! He shows us how HE lived, that's how we are to live!

"And the Apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed..."

What a strange reply to the apostles when they asked our Lord how to increase their faith! Right?
A mustard seed? Really? LOL, that itself needs faith to believe too!
Now what do we do? All we can do now is take that step out onto the stormy seas...and start walking to our Lord on water.

You see, that's the deal, you don't just increase faith...you just do it! He didn't say how to gradually pull up a mulberry tree, He said JUST TELL IT. Just command it to be and it will be.
I love reading reflections. Today's Word Among Us made me feel at peace on faith. I just lost a friend, an employee of ours, a shop mechanic, and I work hand in hand with these guys every day in our family construction business. My dad, has been the boss for about 30 years here, and he passed away a few months ago. And now this? One of our main mechanics? When my dad passed, many trucks blew up engines and we had several vehicle accidents. And when Lalo passed a truck engine blew too. Now what? These things hurt me on many fronts, yeah, I suffer, spiritually, even physically because of it, of course financially, but that is the least...because, our place feels a little more empty now...really, what I mess most about my dad who handled everything...I miss really ...his presence. To have him nearby, to talk with, just to know he was there.
And I say this, because this is where faith kicks in, and because this is how things are with Our Father in Heaven, our Lord and our God Jesus.

They crucified Your Father basically on that cross, because Jesus our Lord is ONE with the Father, the very being of God, the very Presence of God on earth....that still continues in the Most Holy Eucharist.
I write to you so you know...you are not alone.
As a promise to fulfill, I visited the nursing home elderly last week, and I asked the place for permission to visit them on Sundays since they have no Mass or any church gathering since the pandemics hit couple years ago.
I sang to them and read the Sunday Gospel to them yesterday, and the message that came to me was "you are not alone" and "your sufferings can be offered and are worth more than gold".

Now, this message is for you.
God is light so that you will never be alone in the dark.

.................
Lord, I want to live in the light forever.
