Queenship of Mary Feast Day August 22nd is the Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This title of Our Lady, Queen of Heaven (Regina Caeli), is rooted in biblical history where the mother of Israel's king had the royal title of Queen Mother. Church Tradition holds that once Mary, the Mother of God, was assumed body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthy life, she was crowned as Queen of Heaven and Earth to reign alongside her Son, Jesus the King of Kings. † Quote of the Day "When we appeal to the throne of grace we do so through Mary, honoring God by honoring His Mother, imitating Him by exalting her, touching the most responsive chord in the Sacred Heart of Christ with the sweet name of Mary." St. Robert Bellarmine Today's Meditation "When will the happy time come when the divine Mary will be established Mistress and Queen of all hearts, in order that she may subject them fully to the empire of her great and holy Jesus? When will souls breathe Mary as the body breathes air? When that time comes, wonderful things will happen in those lowly places where the Holy Ghost, finding His dear spouse, as it were, reproduced, in all souls, shall come in with abundance, and fill them to overflowing with His gifts, and particularly with the gift of wisdom, to work miracles of grace." —St. Louis de Montfort, p.118-119 Daily Verse "And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars." Revelation 12:1 | St. John Kemble St. John Kemble (1599-1679) was born in England to a prominent Catholic family when Catholicism was outlawed in the country. He was ordained a priest in 1625 and ministered in England as an itinerant priest for fifty-three years. Although persecution of Catholics was rampant, in his particular region Catholics were generally not harassed. In the infamous "Popish Plot" of 1678, Protestant politicians began a violent crackdown on Catholics, particularly on priests. Although 80 years old at the time, Father John Kemble was arrested. He was warned in advance but declined to leave his flock, saying, "According to the course of nature, I have but a few years to live. It will be an advantage to suffer for my religion and, therefore, I will not abscond." Although he was found innocent of any involvement in the "Popish Plot," he was condemned for being a Catholic priest and sentenced to death by being hanged, drawn, and quartered on August 22, 1679. His last words, addressed to the crowd were: "The failure of the authorities in London to connect me to the plot makes it evident that I die only for profession of the Catholic religion, which was the religion that first made this Kingdom Christian." He was canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1970. St. John Kemble is one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. His feast day is August 22. | Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary • Readings for the Memorial of The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary Reading 1 Ruth 1:1, 3-6, 14b-16, 22 Once in the time of the judges there was a famine in the land; so a man from Bethlehem of Judah departed with his wife and two sons to reside on the plateau of Moab. Elimelech, the husband of Naomi, died, and she was left with her two sons, who married Moabite women, one named Orpah, the other Ruth. When they had lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Chilion died also, and the woman was left with neither her two sons nor her husband. She then made ready to go back from the plateau of Moab because word reached her there that the LORD had visited his people and given them food. Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-bye, but Ruth stayed with her. Naomi said, "See now! Your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and her god. Go back after your sister-in-law!" But Ruth said, "Do not ask me to abandon or forsake you! For wherever you go, I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge, your people shall be my people, and your God my God." Thus it was that Naomi returned with the Moabite daughter-in-law, Ruth, who accompanied her back from the plateau of Moab. They arrived in Bethlehem at the beginning of the barley harvest. Gospel Matthew 22:34-40 When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and one of them, a scholar of the law, tested him by asking, "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments." | Praise to You Oh Lord Jesus Christ! | Daily Meditation: Ruth 1:1, 3-6, 14-16, 22 Wherever you go, I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge. (Ruth 1:16) What a sad situation! Naomi and her family had fled to the land of Moab to escape a famine in Israel, but now her husband and both of her sons have died. Her daughters-in-law, Ruth and Orpah, had both been married for about ten years, but neither had conceived children before their husbands died. So all three women were left alone, with no social standing, no financial security, and no one to protect them. Not wanting to be a burden, Naomi told them both to return to their families: "May the Lord guide each of you to find a husband and a home in which you will be at rest," (Ruth 1:9). After much weeping and protesting, Orpah kissed Naomi and left. But Ruth refused. She could not bear the thought of Naomi making the journey to Israel alone and defenseless. Ruth knew that she was putting her own life at risk—Israelites despised Moabites like her. But she was determined: "Wherever you go, I will go," she insisted (Ruth 1:16). We have all been in situations when we've had to choose a path that is compassionate and yet costly. Think about what is involved in welcoming an adult child back home after they have lost their job or are going through a messy divorce. Or think about all that is involved in lovingly supporting an elderly parent through their twilight years. Choosing to do the good in cases like these isn't always easy, and it rarely involves just one choice. Often it means reaffirming our decision over and over again or accepting the way our decision sends ripples through every aspect of our lives. It can be hard to see situations like these as invitations from the Lord. But sometimes that's exactly what they are. They give us the chance to imitate Jesus' love and loyalty. They help us say no to selfishness. And they offer opportunities for healing and reconciliation. In many cases, they open the door for God to work wonders in our hearts. So don't reject these invitations out of hand. You never know how saying yes might change your history! "Lord, give me the strength and wisdom to choose the path of costly compassion when it arises before me." Psalm 146:5-10 Matthew 22:34-40 | Reflections with Brother Adrian: | Hear AI Read it for u | From today's Holy Gospel: "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments. ......" Word of the Lord. | From Bishop Barron: "It's finally about love, and the love of God and neighbor are inextricably bound to one another. If we follow the law but don't love, we're wasting our time. If we love God but hate our neighbors, we're wasting our time. Why are the two loves so tightly connected? Because Jesus is not just God. He is the God-man, the one in whom divinity and humanity come together. Therefore, it's impossible to love him as God without loving the humanity that he's created and embraced." end quote. One time someone asked me how to show God that you love Him. I reiterated what the bible says, to obey Him is a for sure way. Sometimes I ask people to do things, and they don't. I then wonder, "do they even care?". Do they care about my will? If they do what I say, so many more will benefit from it! If they will do what I say, in faith, they will be helped! But, many of us live lackadaisical, in a careless type of living, much like we see in immature teenagers, who are not well formed and have very poor judgement. Not all, but some. If you've kept up with my 2 cents, you'll notice, that I often equate the word "faith" with the word "love". Therefore, greater faith equals, greater love. And there are two prime examples in the world that show is this great love and faith....our Blessed Mother, and our Dearly Beloved Jesus. Today, we celebrate the Queenship of Mary. Why? The answer is, "why not?". Why not the prime example of subtle openness to God in its fullest sense? Why not a young teenager girl who was brought up and consecrated to God since she was a little girl? Why not a human designed from the onset of time, to bring God to the world, to be knit in her womb, with her body, and her flesh? Why not the Blessed Virgin who said "Let it be done according to Thy Word"? And in comes the flesh of God, Jesus. Now we are fully united in Him, with Him, and through Him...to our God and Father. He came and taught us how to live and how to pray and how to die. The miracles were just to emphasize a point. It is said that He said so much, that if written, we would not have enough books to fill what He said. And so we are left with particles of the Word made flesh. Now. How can you show God you love Him? A thought hits me, we have 8 kids. I work with many people and in many ministries. God wants to love all of them through our body. He wants me to hug that child. He wants me to pay attention to that child. Just moments before writing, I been feeling ill lately, but today woke up with strength, and daily Mass is in the morning. My son and a nephew are working at our shop. My son asks "dad, are we taking him (my nephew) to daily Mass?". The boy is not catholic. The boy is being raised without a father. And I said "if he wishes". We walk outside and I said inside myself "if he is where we see each other, then he will come". I walked out the shop door and he was sweeping, and we made eye contact and I said "you want to wait or do you want to go to Mass?" and he said "I'd rather go with ya'll". We went, he was attentive. And on our way home he said "that was very nice, you have a good pastor". I thought my nephew was 16 years old but clarified he is now 17, with some rough years now, and has a tattoo now. The tattoo says something about "faith that moves mountains". So what of all this story? What is going on here? I am letting the Father love through me, to these people, bringing them closer to the Father Himself. I explained to my nephew what I had thought about me inviting him and I said "it was the Lord inviting you". And these words have to sink in. "His presence is here". The Lord's heart beats inside of you, if you so desire. How can we love God? Love Him in every soul you encounter. How can we love God more? Sacrifice. Our Lord Jesus is the ultimate example of sacrifice. He is the true worship on the altar. He is the eternal sacrifice. He is eternally reaching out to us. He is working through us, had it not been the case, then why would he tell a man named Saul that killed Christians "Saul, why are you persecuting ME!". You see, Christ lives among us. He is the Word Among Us. How can, I love, God more? Love Jesus. How can you loves Jesus more? Love like Mother Mary, the first lover of Christ, the first one that her heart was bound to eternally at the moment of conception. Mother, Queen of Heaven and Earth, help us love our Lord as we ought! Hail Mary full of grace, pray for us sinners forever. Pope Leo has asked us to fast today for peace. | audio | Random Bible Verse 1 Matthew 18:5–6 "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin,1 it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea."
