†Saint Quote
"You never go away from us, yet we have difficulty in returning to You. Come, Lord, stir us up and call us back. Kindle and seize us. Be our fire and our sweetness. Let us love. Let us run." St. Augustine

†Today's Meditation
"…When the sacrament of matrimony is celebrated at the center of the Eucharistic celebration, during which the spouses receive in Holy Communion the Body and Blood of Christ: the unity of the spouses, who "become one flesh" in the flesh of the Lord, is the image in this world of the unity of Christ the Bridegroom and the Church his Bride, during the celebration of the sacrament of unity par excellence: the Holy Eucharist. In this sense, we can state that the prayer of Christian spouses, whether they are at home or traveling, is always a Eucharistic prayer…"

"And we have this confidence in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, we know that what we have asked him for is ours." 1 John 5:14-15

Blessed John Licci

Blessed John Licci (1400-1511) was born to a poor peasant farmer near Palermo, Sicily. His mother died in childbirth, and his father was forced to leave his infant alone at home while he worked in the fields. One day a neighbor woman heard the baby's cries and, in compassion, brought the child into her home to care for him. When she laid the baby on the bed next to her paralyzed husband, he was miraculously cured of his disease. Mr. Licci was unhappy with the woman's meddling and brought his son back into his home. However, when he did so, his neighbor's paralysis returned. Mr. Licci took this as a sign that God wanted the couple to help him care for his son. This was the first of many miracles John Licci would perform throughout his life. He joined the Dominican Order in 1415 and was a friar for 96 years, the longest period known for any religious to wear the habit. His miracles include the multiplication of building materials used for a convent he founded, miraculously feeding a poor widow and her six children, raising a dead boy to life, and curing three people whose heads had been crushed in accidents. Consequently, he has been designated the patron saint of head injuries. He is the longest-living saint in the Catholic Church, dying at the age of 111. St. John Licci's feast day is November 14th.

Monday of the Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1 RV 1:1-4; 2:1-5

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him,
to show his servants what must happen soon.
He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,
who gives witness to the word of God
and to the testimony of Jesus Christ by reporting what he saw.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud
and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message
and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near.
John, to the seven churches in Asia: grace to you and peace
from him who is and who was and who is to come,
and from the seven spirits before his throne.
I heard the Lord saying to me:
"To the angel of the Church in Ephesus, write this:
"'The one who holds the seven stars in his right hand
and walks in the midst of the seven gold lampstands says this:
"I know your works, your labor, and your endurance,
and that you cannot tolerate the wicked;
you have tested those who call themselves Apostles but are not,
and discovered that they are impostors.
Moreover, you have endurance and have suffered for my name,
and you have not grown weary.
Yet I hold this against you:
you have lost the love you had at first.
Realize how far you have fallen.
Repent, and do the works you did at first.
Otherwise, I will come to you
and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent."'"

Responsorial Psalm PS 1:1-2, 3, 4 AND 6

R. (Rev. 2:17) Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Blessed the man who follows not
the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the LORD
and meditates on his law day and night.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
He is like a tree
planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,
and whose leaves never fade.
Whatever he does, prospers.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Not so the wicked, not so;
they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
For the LORD watches over the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked vanishes.
R. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.

Alleluia JN 8:12

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
I am the light of the world, says the Lord;
whoever follows me will have the light of life.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel LK 18:35-43

As Jesus approached Jericho
a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging,
and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him,
"Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."
He shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!"
The people walking in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent,
but he kept calling out all the more,
"Son of David, have pity on me!"
Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him;
and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
"What do you want me to do for you?"
He replied, "Lord, please let me see."
Jesus told him, "Have sight; your faith has saved you."
He immediately received his sight
and followed him, giving glory to God.
When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.

Daily Meditation: Luke 18:35-43

Jesus, Son of David, . . . please let me see. (Luke 18:38, 41)

Though disadvantaged in life by blindness and poverty, this poor man had some advantages that many in the crowd did not. Like the people who were waiting to see Jesus that day, he had heard the many stories about the miracles and healings that Jesus performed as well as the message of mercy that he preached. And like everyone else, his hope had been stirred.

But when he heard that Jesus was approaching, he was the only one to cry out, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!" (Luke 18:38, 39). This man, who was blind, "saw" who Jesus was. He also "saw" his own need for Jesus' mercy. And this is what caught the Lord's attention.

We too have hope in Jesus. We believe in his power and mercy. But do we know our need like this man did? Sometimes our need is not immediately clear because we have learned to live with our spiritual blindness. Or we might ask for something in a vague, general way. Or maybe we are too busy looking to the needs of others. We can even begin to think that we are doing fine, and Jesus has more important things to do than bother with us. But we would be wrong.

Jesus has one question for you today: "What do you want me to do for you?" (Luke 18:41). What would you shout out to Jesus? "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me . . . and cure me of cancer!" "Jesus, heal my relationship with my son!" "Jesus, have mercy on me and free me of my addiction." Or even "Jesus, Son of David, cut through the indifference that keeps me from seeing how much I need you."

Don't wait on the sidelines wondering if Jesus will ever heal you. Be like this man in today's Gospel who, against the opposition of the crowd, called out to Jesus and appealed to his power and mercy. And like this man, be clear on how deeply you need Jesus and what you want him to do for you. Let him say to you, as he did to this poor man, "Your faith has saved you" (Luke 18:42).

"Jesus, you are the fulfillment of all God's promises. Have mercy on me and heal me of _________. Lord, I want to see!"

Revelation 1:1-4; 2:1-5
Psalm 1:1-4, 6

From today's 1st Holy Scripture:
"Blessed is the one who reads aloud and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message and heed what is written..."

One thing I've noticed...is there are different powers, of the mind, of the spirit, of the body...and we can put them to good use. Why would we use them for the dark side? Yet...that is our every day possiblity...to choose right from wrong....to choose to do God's will...or something else.

What you think matters.
What you give life to, matters.
What you say matters.

psalms

We pray today;
"Blessed the man who follows not the counsel of the wicked Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the LORD and meditates on his law day and night.
Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life"

Those who live in sin, sit with the insolent. But those who are living away from sin....set themselves apart.
And this is what causes often for a true Christian to be ridiculed, because they do not follow the ways of darkness. The Holy Rollers are criticized and even ostracized.

2cents2

In the Gospel today we heard our Master and Teacher:
"What do you want me to do for you?"
He replied, "Lord, please let me see."
Jesus told him, "Have sight; your faith has saved you."

And then what happens? If there are millions on pilgrimage, and say a thousand want healing, I wonder how many actually need healing, and how many get the healing?

And so a couple things must happen. Your disposition in prayer, and the grace of God and His Will. These things must connect in order for a miracle to occur. And together, this is faith.

Faith is a gift, like being able to see.
The blind man needed a heart to see.
"The people walking in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent,
but he kept calling out all the more"
So often we are silenced by others, by their looks, their words, but how can you keep silent? And how often am I one of those "silencers"?

And so here's a bit of advice from this guy that's trying; when you sense negativity, then give it more positivity. What does this mean?
I've been in situations that have really made me choose between God and others.
Lots of negative spirit power poured on me.
What do I do? LOL, well, after a hurt heart and tears, I finally muster up enough strength to use my powers...of humility...to pray. And then it comes...the power comes from on high.

Oh I bet you're thinking of super powers like in the movies...but this is more and more real.

What comes to me in prayer is...nothing more than grace. With grace from God, all things are made possible, no matter the outcome.
Does this make sense?

The blind man was tired of not seeing...not belonging, of being ousted and rejected. He knew God would hear him...his heart.

Take courage my child, God hears your sincerity....let us pour ourselves out to Him!

WOW!!!

12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,

and his ears are open to their prayer.

But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

13 Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good?
