†Saint Quote
"Often, actually very often, God allows his greatest servants, those who are far advanced in grace, to make the most humiliating mistakes. This humbles them in their own eyes and in the eyes of their fellow men."
— St. Louis de Montfort

†MEDITATION OF THE DAY
"We do not come to church to attend the service as a spectator, but in order, along with the priest, to serve God. Everything we do—our entering, being present, our kneeling and sitting and standing, our reception of the sacred nourishment—should be divine service. This is so only when all we do overflows from the awareness of a collected heart and the mind's attentiveness."
— Fr. Romano Guardini, p. 28
AN EXCERPT FROM
Meditations Before Mass

†VERSE OF THE DAY
"So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate, and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all [the] flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
Ephesians 6:14-17

ST. CHARLES BORROMEO

St. Charles Borromeo (1538–1584) was born into an ancient and wealthy family in Lombardy, Italy. When his uncle became Pope Pius IV, Charles was brought to Rome to take over several important assignments connected with the Vatican. He was ordained to Holy Orders at the age of 25 and was later made Archbishop of Milan, a position of high influence in the Church, and Cardinal. He initiated large-scale reform of his enormous and dilapidated diocese, which had not seen a resident bishop in 80 years. Clergy were ignorant and disobedient, religious were negligent and scandalous, and the laity had drifted from Church teaching. He rectified abuses and maintained the integrity of the Church's internal structure, all for which he encountered strong opposition and threats against his life. He also established hospitals, seminaries, orphanages, and the first Sunday School classes. He was a key player in the Council of Trent and kept it going when it was in danger of breaking up. He was a prominent defender of Church teaching in the Counter-Reformation and helped produce an official catechism. His counsel was widely sought, especially by the Catholic kings and queens of Europe and the popes under whom he served, and his virtue was evident to all. Throughout his life he held his rank and authority with humility, living austerely and constantly striving for sanctity. When plague and famine hit Milan in 1576, Charles stayed in the city to care for those in need and borrowed large sums of money to feed tens of thousands of people each day. Exhausted from his reforming labors, he died at the age of 46. St. Charles Borromeo is the patron of catechists, catechumens, seminarians, spiritual directors, and bishops. His feast day is November 4th.

Memorial of Saint Charles Borromeo, Bishop

Lectionary: 488
Reading I

Rom 14:7-12

Brothers and sisters:
None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself.
For if we live, we live for the Lord,
and if we die, we die for the Lord;
so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.
For this is why Christ died and came to life,
that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Why then do you judge your brother or sister?
Or you, why do you look down on your brother or sister?
For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God;
for it is written:

As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bend before me,

and every tongue shall give praise to God.

So then each of us shall give an account of himself to God.

Responsorial Psalm

27:1bcde, 4, 13-14

R. ( 13) I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.
The LORD is my light and my salvation;

whom should I fear?
The LORD is my life's refuge;

of whom should I be afraid?
R. I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.
One thing I ask of the LORD;

this I seek:
To dwell in the house of the LORD

all the days of my life,
That I may gaze on the loveliness of the LORD

and contemplate his temple.
R. I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.
I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD

in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD with courage;

be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.
R. I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.

Alleluia

Mt 11:28

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest, says the Lord.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel

Lk 15:1-10

The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus,
but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying,
"This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."
So Jesus addressed this parable to them.
"What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them
would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert
and go after the lost one until he finds it?
And when he does find it,
he sets it on his shoulders with great joy
and, upon his arrival home,
he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them,
'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.'
I tell you, in just the same way
there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents
than over ninety-nine righteous people
who have no need of repentance.

"Or what woman having ten coins and losing one
would not light a lamp and sweep the house,
searching carefully until she finds it?
And when she does find it,
she calls together her friends and neighbors
and says to them,
'Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.'
In just the same way, I tell you,
there will be rejoicing among the angels of God
over one sinner who repents."

From Today's Holy Scripture:
"Brothers and sisters:
None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. For this is why Christ died and came to life, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. Why then do you judge your brother or sister?

psalms

We pray in Psalms:
" I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The LORD is my life's refuge; of whom should I be afraid?"

2cents2

We heard of our Lord:
"This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." So Jesus addressed this parable to them. "What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them
would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it?

In this parable, we heard of a man seeking a lamb, a lost lamb. How often do you get lost? Have no fear, He is on His way! You are reading this on purpose, His purpose. Mercy lives. Mercy moves. Mercy moves within. When you are lost, cry, cry out to Jesus, He hears the hearts' cries. He hears those seeking for Him. And what does it feel like to be saved? Have you ever been rescued? It feels like relief, and restoration of security and peace. This is grace, and the Holy Mother Church avails grace hand over foot, through the blood and body of Christ.

Our Lord said: "I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents."

"Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it?
And when she does find it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost."

In the second part of the parable, a woman seeks a treasure, and she lights a light and sweeps the entire place until she finds her coin. And she calls her friends to rejoice with her. Just like the shepherd called for rejoicing.

In my meditation, it was made known to me, that the first part was about our Lord seeking us, until we repent.
In the second part, it is about us seeking Him, and when we repent, there is much rejoicing. I found Jesus! Rejoice with me!

For our Lord concluded:
I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents."

So are the heavens watching you? LOL, apparently so! And they anxiously await for you to repent!

LOL! I was thinking upon meditation "boy, I have probably made them rejoice heaven countless times!" because I repent, over and over...and over.
But you know what happens with sincere contrition? Repentance brings you to more perfection, true repentance. This is a more intimate union with grace. Of course in ultimate perfection, there won't be cause for repentance, but will call for lots of rejoicing when others make it to repentance and then ultimately....heaven.

And so, seek Him. And so, rejoice when others repent. Alleviation happens, and this means healing. Because we need each other. I need you, and you need me. We all need each other. All the way to death and then from death even more...to eternity.

Let's pray:
Lord, Our Father in Heaven,
You seek all of those in your fold, and you call to others too.
I pray that we make the connection. I pray that we may always live under Thy Loving Gaze.
I pray that this child of Yours is never lost again.
I pray that we live more in grace, more in light, more in love with LOVE, Yourself, my dearest Lord, King, and Father...
Amen

from your brother in Christ,
Adrian

Isaiah 55:10–11

10 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven

and do not return there but water the earth,

making it bring forth and sprout,

giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;

it shall not return to me empty,

but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,

and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
