they may look...Can you commentate on this brother?

they may look and see but not perceive,
and hear and listen but not understand,
in order that they may not be converted and be forgiven."
De colores

David

Its funny you ask, because originally the title of the email was going to be "Look and See" because it stands out. It would be too much to write about so I didn't, or the Holy Spirit did not allow. Yet it is enticing. We have to look at the Old Testament scriptures it refers to. They were referenced in USCCB original footnotes for the scriptures: Is 6:9; Jn 12:40; Acts 28:26; Rom 11:8.
Isaiah says mostly, "
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” “Here I am,” I said; “send me!”9* And he replied: Go and say to this people:
Listen carefully, but do not understand!
Look intently, but do not perceive!f
10Make the heart of this people sluggish,
dull their ears and close their eyes;
Lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears,
and their heart understand,
and they turn and be healed.g

Which would lead us to understand perhaps that we get in the way of the Lord with our own thoughts and reasonings, which was spoken about in my2cents, much thinking and not much doing for the Lord.

In the Gospel of John we read "
After he had said this, Jesus left and hid from them.37* d Although he had performed so many signs in their presence they did not believe in him,38* in order that the word which Isaiah the prophet spoke might be fulfilled:
“Lord, who has believed our preaching,
to whom has the might of the Lord been revealed?”e
39For this reason they could not believe, because again Isaiah said:
40“He blinded their eyes
and hardened their heart,
so that they might not see with their eyes
and understand with their heart and be converted,
and I would heal them.”f

Again, miracles happen in front of your face, yet still not believe. Such is not the case for you brother, for your miracle with your child that was healed of a skin disorder is always fresh on my mind, I even shared it with my friendship group this week. But many experience miracles in the flesh, yet fail to realize that they are from God and God is Good and we are to LIVE Thanksgiving.

In Acts we read:
Some were convinced by what he had said, while others did not believe.25* Without reaching any agreement among themselves they began to leave; then Paul made one final statement. “Well did the holy Spirit speak to your ancestors through the prophet Isaiah, saying:
26‘Go to this people and say:g
You shall indeed hear but not understand.
You shall indeed look but never see.
27Gross is the heart of this people;
they will not hear with their ears;
they have closed their eyes,
so they may not see with their eyes
and hear with their ears
and understand with their heart and be converted,
and I heal them.’

And again, St. Paul tells us how some will believe and some will not then quoting Isaiah. Many left Jesus alone when He said "this is my flesh" eat it, and "this is my blood", because they failed to see with their human eyes and heart...

In Romans we read:

But if by grace, it is no longer because of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.f7What then? What Israel was seeking it did not attain, but the elect attained it; the rest were hardened,g8as it is written:
“God gave them a spirit of deep sleep,
eyes that should not see
and ears that should not hear,
down to this very day.”h

9And David says:i
“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them;
10let their eyes grow dim so that they may not see,
and keep their backs bent forever.”

Once again, people choose their own food, their own demise, their own "salvation". Truth is, we are hungry for more, had this not been the case, we wouldn't be reading this today...Let it thrive!
Love you brother,
adrian

going4thhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04515832559870150992noreply@blogger.com
