†Saint Quote
"Quote of the Day
"Put your heart at His feet. It is the gift He loves most."
–St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

†Today's Meditation
"Prayer brings our mind into the brightness of divine light, and exposes our will to the warmth of divine love. Nothing else can so purge our mind from its ignorance, and our will from its depraved affections. It is a blessed fountain which, as it flows, revives our good desires and causes them to bring forth fruit, washes away the stains of infirmity from our soul, and calms the passions of our hearts."
—St. Francis de Sales, p. 61

†Daily Verse
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be." Matthew 6:19-21

St. Francis of Girolamo

St. Francis de Girolamo (1642-1716) was the eldest of eleven children born to honorable and virtuous parents in Naples, Italy. As a child he was drawn to God and a life of prayer. Realizing his vocation to Holy Orders, he was ordained a Jesuit priest at the age of 28. He became a renowned public preacher due to his distinguished and eloquent voice. He was described as "a lamb when he talks, and a lion when he preaches." He had a heart for the missions after his patron St. Francis Xavier, but instead of traveling to distant lands he accepted his hometown of Naples as his India. He went as a missionary priest into country towns and villages for open-air preaching in the streets. He sought to convert sinners wherever they were—in brothels, prisons, galleys, hospitals, and asylums—as well as instructing the pious in their religious houses. He converted Muslim prisoners of war to the Christian faith, rescued chidren from dangerous and degrading situations, and opened a pawn shop for charity. The fruit of his labor was abundant. He converted many souls, even hardened sinners, and made them virtuous. Everyone knew him for his holiness and zeal. He also had a reputation for being a miracle worker during his lifetime and after his death. After spending 40 years in apostolic labor in Naples, he died of an illness from which he suffered greatly without complaint. His feast day is May 11th.

Reading I Acts 12:24—13:5a

The word of God continued to spread and grow.

After Barnabas and Saul completed their relief mission,
they returned to Jerusalem,
taking with them John, who is called Mark.

Now there were in the Church at Antioch prophets and teachers:
Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene,
Manaen who was a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,
"Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul
for the work to which I have called them."
Then, completing their fasting and prayer,
they laid hands on them and sent them off.

So they, sent forth by the Holy Spirit,
went down to Seleucia
and from there sailed to Cyprus.
When they arrived in Salamis,
they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues.

Responsorial Psalm 67:2-3, 5, 6 and 8

R. (4) O God, let all the nations praise you!
or:
R. Alleluia.
May God have pity on us and bless us;

may he let his face shine upon us.
So may your way be known upon earth;

among all nations, your salvation.
R. O God, let all the nations praise you!
or:
R. Alleluia.
May the nations be glad and exult

because you rule the peoples in equity;

the nations on the earth you guide.
R. O God, let all the nations praise you!
or:
R. Alleluia.
May the peoples praise you, O God;

may all the peoples praise you!
May God bless us,

and may all the ends of the earth fear him!
R. O God, let all the nations praise you!
or:
R. Alleluia.

Alleluia Jn 8:12

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
I am the light of the world, says the Lord;
whoever follows me will have the light of life.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel Jn 12:44-50

Jesus cried out and said,
"Whoever believes in me believes not only in me
but also in the one who sent me,
and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me.
I came into the world as light,
so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.
And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them,
I do not condemn him,
for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world.
Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words
has something to judge him: the word that I spoke,
it will condemn him on the last day,
because I did not speak on my own,
but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and speak.
And I know that his commandment is eternal life.
So what I say, I say as the Father told me."

Daily Meditation: John 12:44-50

The word that I spoke, it will condemn. (John 12:48)

Have you ever been condemned by a word? We're all familiar with what it feels like to be condemned by another person, and it isn't pleasant. The sense of disapproval and even rejection can make us feel small, ashamed, and unloved. But what does Jesus mean that his word has the potential to condemn? Let's think about this.

First, Jesus was very clear that he doesn't condemn anyone. In fact, he affirmed, "I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world" (John 12:47). As the parable of the lost sheep tells us, he is the Good Shepherd who will leave all his other sheep to find the one who has strayed (Matthew 18:10-14). And once he has found that sheep, he puts it on his shoulders and carries it home.

Imagine you are that lost sheep. But when you see Jesus coming toward you, you run in the opposite direction. Jesus isn't condemning you—you are condemning yourself. You are choosing to remain lost. The farther you get from Jesus, the more trouble you find yourself in.

That's what happens when we choose our ways over Jesus' ways. It's our own actions that punish us, not Jesus. It's like a young child placing her hand on a hot stove, even as her mother calls out to try to stop her. The mother is speaking words of warning—words that describe the "condemnation" that child will experience as she touches the stove.

This is similar to what Jesus means when he says that his own words will condemn us. He isn't punishing us; he is naming the natural consequences of sin. He isn't sending us away from him; he is telling us what will happen if we don't reverse course and come running back to him in repentance.

As frightening as Jesus' words of warning can appear, we should remember that he never speaks them in anger or rejection. More than anything else, they are words of mercy calling us back to him. In fact, his mercy is so wide that we can return to him no matter how far from him we have wandered.

"Jesus, thank you for speaking words of mercy that can overcome any sin in my heart!"

From today's 1st Holy Scripture:
"Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul
for the work to which I have called them."
Then, completing their fasting and prayer,
they laid hands on them and sent them off."

They were fasting and praying. Just this morning I was reading some emails about bishops asking for a day of fasting and prayer on Friday May 13th, and to offer the prayers and fasting for help and guidance and for culprits in recent (terrorist) attacks on churches, and pro life centers across the country. I often wonder, had the same been done to Muslims or Jews, so much would be done about it, but since it is against Catholics, even political figures that claim to be catholic, choose to remain silent, some even applauding the acts of violence by remaining silent. Do you see how evil it is to remain silent about issues that concern life and death? The death party is not silent, so why should the life party be silent? Let us raise awareness to the Heavens, that we repent, that we need help, that we need God to save us and be our leader...Jesus Christ our Good Shepherd.

psalms

We pray in Psalms:
'May the nations be glad and exult because you rule the peoples in equity; the nations on the earth you guide. O God, let all the nations praise you!"

Just this morning I read an email stating that China had just arrested a 90 year old Cardinal for supposedly helping pro democracy people with fees on something. What nations need God? Whether communist or not, everybody should be under the laws of God, for true justice, and for true mercy. Lord, let all the nations praise Thee and honor Thee. Help all Nations see the Truth...our Lord Jesus.
And the latest messages from Medjugorje state that a warning is coming for all to convert. The time to repent is always in the forever now.

2cents2

In today's Gospel we heard:
'Whoever believes in me believes not only in me but also in the one who sent me,
and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me.
I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness.

Have you seen the light? Have you seen the Lord? Do you believe He is in the light? The great analogy of someone living in darkness is someone attempting to live away from God's sight. And this is a blatant choice. But even in darkness, they need some sort of light...and this again comes from God's inception of creation. In the beginning there was light.
Light is what fuels life. Amen? Darkness attempts to put out the light, like the many attempting to destroy Christ, even within church and families. Our lady's message in Medjugorje says that Freemasons are causing division, in our Church. How? Simple things. Like, asking everyone to receive the Eucharist on the hands and standing. Simple things like not making the Sabbath that holy. Simple things like removing the Blessed Sacrament from the center of the Church and setting the Lord off to a side. Simple things like focusing on politics rather than the basics of life in prayer. Simple things that make man more important...like as if to say "we are god", the center of all.
What if I told you something crazy....that our Lord actually lives in the light.

Sure He can work through us and live in us in the body too, because even there they say we have electricity...light.
Have you seen people that glow?

I see some that can glow after receiving the Eucharist. Why or how, I do not know. But I've noticed one person has the hardest time to receive Him but once the person does...they shine. And this person is not necessarily considered a devout person.
I digress.
Our Lord will never send people to hell. We choose it upon ourselves. He does not condemn. It is our choice.

He is righteous and pure, and does though, have the capability to save us, and now consider Divine Mercy. Salvation. Light in the darkness. Everything my friend, hinges on this.

He leaves us today with His last words in today's Gospel:
"So what I say, I say as the Father told me."

Word of God.

from your brother in Christ,
Adrian
