†Saint Quote
"OCTOBER 27, 2021
"When you have free moments, go faithfully to prayer. The good God is waiting for you there."
— St. Julie Billiart

† MEDITATION OF THE DAY
"Many things happen that God does not will. But he still permits them, in his wisdom, and they remain a stumbling block or scandal to our minds. God asks us to do all we can to eliminate evil. But despite our efforts, there is always a whole set of circumstances which we can do nothing about, which are not necessarily willed by God but nevertheless are permitted by him, and which God invites us to consent to trustingly and peacefully, even if they make us suffer and cause us problems. We are not being asked to consent to evil, but to consent to the mysterious wisdom of God who permits evil. Our consent is not a compromise with evil but the expression of our trust that God is stronger than evil. This is a form of obedience that is painful but very fruitful."
— Fr. Jacques Philippe, p. 33
AN EXCERPT FROM
In the School of the Holy Spirit

† VERSE OF THE DAY
"So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs."
Mark 16:19-20

BL. BARTHOLOMEW OF VICENZA

Bl. Bartholomew of Vicenza (1201-1270), also known as Bartholomew of Braganca or Breganza, was born to a noble family in Vicenza, Italy. While studying in Padua he entered the newly established Dominican Order as one of their first friars, receiving the habit from St. Dominic himself. Bartholomew quickly advanced to positions of prominence within the Order, becoming prior and then overseeing several convents. He was sent to preach against the heretics in Lombardy, and was so successful that in 1235 the Holy Father made him Master of the Sacred Palace (an office known as "The Pope's Theologian") a position which was first held by St. Dominic. In this role he also founded a military order of knights for the purpose of maintaining civil order and peace throughout Italy called the Order of the Knights of the Mother of God (or the Knights of St. Mary). He was later made bishop of Cyprus, and also served as papal legate and confessor to St. Louis King of France, who was then leading a crusade in the Holy Land. From this friendship Bartholomew received the gift of a relic of the True Cross and a thorn from the Crown of Thorns. When Bartholomew returned to his native Vicenza as the city's bishop he built a church to house the precious relics called the Church of the Holy Crown. Bl. Bartholomew of Vicenza was an effective mediator between the factions and feuds of his day, even converting the leader of a heretical party back to the Catholic faith. His feast day is October 27th.

Wednesday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time

Lectionary: 481
Reading I

Rom 8:26-30

Brothers and sisters:
The Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness;
for we do not know how to pray as we ought,
but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings.
And the one who searches hearts
knows what is the intention of the Spirit,
because he intercedes for the holy ones
according to God's will.

We know that all things work for good for those who love God,
who are called according to his purpose.
For those he foreknew he also predestined
to be conformed to the image of his Son,
so that he might be the firstborn
among many brothers.

And those he predestined he also called;
and those he called he also justified;
and those he justified he also glorified.

Responsorial Psalm

13:4-5, 6

R. (6a) My hope, O Lord, is in your mercy.
Look, answer me, O LORD, my God!
Give light to my eyes that I may not sleep in death

lest my enemy say, "I have overcome him";

lest my foes rejoice at my downfall.
R. My hope, O Lord, is in your mercy.
Though I trusted in your mercy,
Let my heart rejoice in your salvation;

let me sing of the LORD, "He has been good to me."
R. My hope, O Lord, is in your mercy.

Alleluia

See 2 Thes 2:14

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
God has called us through the Gospel
to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel

Lk 13:22-30

Jesus passed through towns and villages,
teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.
Someone asked him,
"Lord, will only a few people be saved?"
He answered them,
"Strive to enter through the narrow gate,
for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter
but will not be strong enough.
After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door,
then will you stand outside knocking and saying,
'Lord, open the door for us.'
He will say to you in reply,
'I do not know where you are from.'
And you will say,
'We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.'
Then he will say to you,
'I do not know where you are from.
Depart from me, all you evildoers!'
And there will be wailing and grinding of teeth
when you see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God
and you yourselves cast out.
And people will come from the east and the west
and from the north and the south
and will recline at table in the Kingdom of God.
For behold, some are last who will be first,
and some are first who will be last."

Daily Meditation: Romans 8:26-30

The Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness. (Romans 8:26)

What good news! God doesn't expect us to know how to pray on our own, and neither does he expect us to do his will on our own. That's why he gave us his Holy Spirit—to aid us in our weakness.

How does the Spirit come to our aid? One of the clearest examples can be found in the Book of Acts. Before the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, they were afraid and locked themselves in the upper room (Acts 2). Yes, they loved the Lord, but they were also hemmed in by their fears and insecurities. But when the Holy Spirit filled them, he gave them the courage, confidence, and peace to go out and preach the gospel, whatever the cost.

While we are not locked in a room, we can all relate to feeling trapped by our struggles or sin patterns. Yet like the first disciples, we also have the Holy Spirit living in us. And it is especially when we are feeling weak that we should ask him to come and help us. The key, however, is to try to remain open to whatever the Spirit wants to accomplish in us.

Two symbols for the Holy Spirit can help us understand how to open our hearts to the Spirit's work. Water and wind can do a lot on their own to create change. But they need to be able to move freely, and we need to place ourselves in their path if we want them to change us. Water flows freely unless we dam it up. Wind has power, but it has no effect on us if we stay inside our homes. Just so, we can miss the power of the Spirit if we lock the doors of our hearts in fear or doubt. But if we trust in God and try to keep our hearts open, the Spirit is more free to move in us.

Being open to the Spirit is not a passive pursuit. It requires faith—first, that the Spirit will come to our aid, and second, that he can accomplish more than we can ask or imagine. It's an active faith that doesn't put limits on the Lord and his work in us.

Today, take a few moments to ask the Lord, "How can I yield more to the Holy Spirit when I'm feeling weak? How can I let him move more freely in my life?" Then open your heart to the Spirit and ask him in!

"Holy Spirit, you are welcome here—in my heart, in my mind, and in my life."

Psalm 13:4-6
Luke 13:22-30

Listen to 2cents

From Today's Holy Scripture:
"Brothers and sisters:
The Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness;
for we do not know how to pray as we ought,
but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings.
And the one who searches hearts
knows what is the intention of the Spirit,
because he intercedes for the holy ones _
according to God's will."_

St. Paul's letters are amazing. Let's not just glaze over these words that were infused in a man that was a zealot for God, and then for God in Christ and then Christ overcame Him and I would compare it to a possession of the Passion.

We do not know how to pray as we ought.
True.
We pray, right? But do we pray as we ought? The Spirit helps our weaknesses because we do not pray rightly about our weaknesses...this means we are not true to ourselves. And the Spirit, of God, must step in, continuously.

For God our Father knows our hearts better than we do. And His desire is for holiness, purity feeds Heaven. Holiness makes for purity. These are fruits. What does this mean? Good for Good, God from God. You are to be fruitful. Start by biting your tongue. Kindness feeds to greater good. Sacrifice. Give where it hurts. Conversions begin.
And this is hard, and St. Thomas Aquinas' quote gets under my skin "to convert someone, take them by the hand and guide them".

Who's got time for that? Who gots patience for that? Who can guide another if one needs guidance themselves!

Excuses. Right?
The blind can guide, but you are not blind.
You are reading this and the guiding light is shining. Lets go forth. God knows the heart.

psalms

We pray in Psalms:
"Look, answer me, O LORD, my God!
Give light to my eyes that I may not sleep in death lest my enemy say, "I have overcome him"; lest my foes rejoice at my downfall.
My hope, O Lord, is in your mercy.
Though I trusted in your mercy, Let my heart rejoice in your salvation; let me sing of the LORD, "He has been good to me."

2cents2

Our Lord speaks, the TRUTH speaks:

""Lord, will only a few people be saved?"
He answered them,
"Strive to enter through the narrow gate,

for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter
but will not be strong enough."

What does it mean that you are not strong enough to enter a narrow gate?

Many I encounter say they are not strong in their faith. They are then...weak. Weak to sin. Too weak to fast. Too weak to give. Too weak to pray. And weakness is deadly, a manifestation of evil spirits can overcome a weak person, like flies on a carcass.

Let's not make this too hard to understand.
This message is this: God Loves You. Do you love God?
Let's explore your answer.
Yes? No? Maybe?

They say the gate to hell is wide, those in perdition will be lost. Saints have seen millions falling like snowflakes to hell in visions, mostly due to perversion. Most sins connected with sexual sins. We cannot see on the other side of the veil of life.
But we are told what to expect.

Last night, we prayed our family rosary before bed, and when finished I gave all my kids a spill on heaven and hell. I said Heaven is where God is, that's where we want to be, and hell is the opposite, much sadness exists, much bad things, much hatred.
I need to instill in us a real sense of faith here. Most don't speak about hell, not even Heaven. They say the Chinese government is working on revising the bible to eliminate all instances where the bible speaks about the afterlife. This socialist move is already instilled in our culture, where many think there is no need to worry about heaven or hell. I've assisted at many funerals within the last few weeks. There is no real sense of urgency to convert, is the sense I get. They say the end times will be prosperous times, where people will trade in God for any pleasure.

This means the end times are here and now, for we do not know the hour. Many latest funerals are young adults, randomly dying in their sleep. Where they ready?
Yesterday's funeral was a man in his late 50's, I was pleased to hear he asked for a priest and the Sacraments before passing.
His family was distraught, and I wondered why they asked me to sing at the gravesite. So I sung. And I witnessed something that I even grabbed my phone to take a picture of during the gravesite prayers. Father, after blessing the grave, went to bless the family, and he hugged each member of the immediate family. And then I sung a song in spanish that said "I know you are here", speaking about our Father in Heaven. Our Father was comforting the family directly.
Last night, we took Father to a banquet dinner to raise money for our Life centers to help families choose life instead of killing their babies. Ben Carson, a brain surgeon, spoke and about 1500 of us were in attendance. Two things I remember from that night. Ben's talk made me want to get out there and start a revolution...for Christ, take back our families, and our government from the wretched hands of evil.
Secondly, Father said that people don't listen at church. I said it's like that at safety meetings, I teach and the employees do exactly the opposite. I think in part it's my fault, because we must follow through with punishment. But does God punish?
We cannot see the other side that awaits us.
We punish ourselves.
Jesus our Lord says people will be suffering when God says "get away you evildoers".

What is evil? What is more evil than not loving God, with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your soul?
Lukewarm neutrality then has this mix, evildoer.

No longer can we call ourselves children of God if we act like children of darkness.

Does the Word fall on deaf ears? Take note. And realize what we ought to pray for.

Let's pray:
Lord, a few days ago, I told a drunkard to never underestimate the power of prayer. I pray for his deliverance. Because the sin has caused devastation in his family, work, and now his health is getting weak. I pray then, that I can take him by the hand, the untouchable and most hated, to show Him that You do care for the wretched sinner. Help me bite my tongue before speaking. Help me listen with angelic ears. Help me be like St. Paul, zealous for You alone and forever as His head rests at the Vatican, the skull, still with us, a stern reminder, that to live for you is to die for you. And this will bring fruit...love beyond measure, because that is how YOU love, with Jesus, true Love, True Sacrifice, True in every sense of the word TRUTH!

Jesus You Are the Door, the Way.

from your brother in Christ,
Adrian
