–Psalm 91:11-12 |  click to read more | | Archangels The Archangels St. Gabriel, St. Michael, and St. Raphael share a feast day on September 29th. These are the only three angels mentioned by name in Sacred Scripture. St. Gabriel means "Power of God." He is the messenger or herald angel most famous for appearing to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Annunciation (Luke 1:11-38). St. Michael means "Who is like God?" He is the warrior angel, the famous foe of Satan, who is the champion of God's people and guardian and protector of the Church (Rev. 12:7-9). St. Raphael means "God has healed." He is a companion and healing angel, most famous for curing a man's blindness and for traveling with Tobiah in the book of Tobit (Tob. 12).

As the visions during the night continued, I saw One like a son of man coming,
on the clouds of heaven;

and was presented before him,
He received dominion, glory, and kingship;

Nathanael answered him,
"Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."
Jesus answered and said to him,
"Do you believe
because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree?
You will see greater things than this."
And he said to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
you will see heaven opened
and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
| Daily Meditation: John 1:47-51 You will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending. (John 1:51) Jesus was shrewd. He could see that Nathanael wasn't going to be easily convinced that he was the Messiah, let alone follow him. But he wanted to help this faithful Jew. So he used a tried-and-true method employed by many wise rabbis. He linked his new teaching to something familiar and established from the Torah. That way, Nathanael might see the connection between Jesus and the faith he loved: the faith of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But Jesus was also subtle. He didn't mention Jacob by name or his "stairway to heaven" (Genesis 28:11-17). He just used a few familiar words from Jacob's dream: "angels of God ascending and descending" (28:12; John 1:51). Those angels surely sparked Nathanael's memory and opened him up to a new encounter with the God of his fathers. Just as Jacob saw heaven opened and the angels going up and down, so would Nathanael—as he followed Jesus. Using the Scriptures that Nathanael so revered, Jesus told him something revolutionary: he himself was the new meeting place. He was the new connection between heaven and earth. Today, on the feast of the Archangels, rejoice that Jesus is infinitely creative in helping you to encounter him. Just as he led Nathanael, he will lead you to faith. He might even use angels! Heavenly messengers like Gabriel, Raphael, and Michael can remind you of God's work in the past and ignite your hope for the future. Gabriel helped Mary to trust in God's promise and calmed her fears (Luke 1:30, 37). Raphael guided Tobias and healed his father, Tobit (Tobit 6:1-4; 11:11-14). And Michael defends God's children whenever we experience temptation (Revelation 12:7). These emissaries from heaven are always available to help you. So pray to see "heaven opened." Ask for the grace to behold Jesus and "the angels of God." Jesus stands ready to meet with you; he will bring heaven down to earth for you! "Angels of God, help me to see Jesus and the glories of heaven!" Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14
Psalm 138:1-5 | From today's 1st Holy Scripture:
"A surging stream of fire
flowed out from where he sat;

. . . When the mother of God our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, swept me under her veil in Heaven, this is exactly what I saw, not clearly, but as if through a veil. It was myriads and myriads, which means countless multitudes serving and attending Him. A formation as in a temple and the universe to convene it so seemed. There was a formidable fire at the center, and the myriads would bring their gift to the Father, and this would make the fire one with their offering. What that offering I can only assume inside was the love, true and sacrificial love. The kind that the King would come and show and demand from us all from the cross.

and give thanks to your name........."_ end of Psalm." As a choir leader in Mass, I'm always listening for angelic voices. Because in a Holy Mass, we are joining by God's grace with Heaven, and this is where Heaven and Earth meet, and our Lord is the mediator, the gate to Heaven, it is through His blood and our water that we are joined. I'm listening always and watching with the ears and eyes of the heart. May we have ears to hear, and eyes to see the Glory of our Lord in the presence of His angels. | In the Gospel today we heard:

"Friends, today we celebrate the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. When the existence of God is widely doubted, it just seems unscientific to believe in spiritual beings. And yet, they are prominently mentioned in the Bible; they are amply discussed by the Church Fathers; and the Catechism of the Catholic Church boldly reaffirms the existence and activity of angels.
Do you remember how, a few years ago, there was an enormous interest in the culture in angels? One of my favorite stories had to do with a man who was flying a single-engine plane during a severe storm. At one point, his communication system failed, and he found himself without a means to make it to the airport.
Just as he was about to give up hope, a strong voice came through the radio. It gave directions to an airport the pilot knew nothing about. The voice guided him to the runway of a small airport. When he landed, he realized that the airport was abandoned. No personnel were on the ground or in the tower.
An accident? Or a sign that "there are more things in heaven and on earth than are dreamed of in your philosophy, Horatio"?

We are among angels.
And everyone has a guardian angel.
Angels are spiritual beings.
But, they manifest themselves on earth too, to aid, and to guide us in our help and salvation.
I often look for them when I am not sure of where I am. Maybe at an unknown airport, maybe in a city, or maybe in the middle of the night when I ponder my very existence.
Angels ascend from our Lord and descend to Him. He is our mediator, He is King and judge.
We come to Him and they come to Him.
We come to Him from below, and they descend to Him from Heaven.
You see, God is alive, in Jesus, and the Holy Spirit descends to Him through and to us all. He is intimately tied with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and we are to be intimately tied with our Lord Jesus who ushers grace and mercy to feed our lives, our very souls. ........ Let us pray:
Lord, today, I pray for toddler who's funeral I will go to, may the angels come to him and guide him. And also, my aunt who sang all her life in choir in church, her funeral is after the toddler.
