Instituted in 1513, the feast commemorates all the privileges given to Mary by God, and all the graces we have received through her intercession and mediation. |  click to read more | | Saint Guy of Anderlecht St. Guy (950–1012), also known as the "Poor Man of Anderlecht," was born to pious parents of humble means in the country village of Anderlecht near Brussels. Having no money for school, from his childhood he served the poor and fostered a great devotion to the Church while praying for the grace to love and accept his poverty. He was regarded as a young saint by those who knew him. One day a priest, who noticed his great reverence while praying in church, invited him to serve it for a small sum by sweeping the floors and keeping the altar and sacred vessels clean. During the day St. Guy would help the poor, and at night he would work and pray in the church; these were his two great loves. He served in this way joyfully and faithfully. One day a shipping merchant from Brussels, prompted by a devil who wanted to take St. Guy away from his holy work as a sacristan, presented him with a lucrative opportunity to invest his small savings into a business venture. Guy, not recognizing the temptation, accepted the job offer under the pretense of making more money to give to the poor, and he left his position as sacristan. When his first cargo ship sunk as it left the harbor, Guy realized his error and the deception he had succumbed to in giving up his happy and humble work serving Christ. He went back to the church and found that the sacristan position had been replaced. Left without a job and no money, Guy was so filled with remorse over his foolish decision that he went on a penitential pilgrimage. He visited Rome, the Holy Land, and other shrines over a period of seven years. He returned to Anderlecht in 1012 and died in the same year. Miracles were reported at his grave, after which a church was built in his honor. His feast day is September 12th. | Tuesday of the Twenty-third Week in Ordinary Time

As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him,

and established in the faith as you were taught,
abounding in thanksgiving.
See to it that no one captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy
according to the tradition of men,
according to the elemental powers of the world
and not according to Christ. For in him dwells the whole fullness of the deity bodily,
and you share in this fullness in him,
who is the head of every principality and power.
In him you were also circumcised
with a circumcision not administered by hand,
by stripping off the carnal body, with the circumcision of Christ.
You were buried with him in baptism,
in which you were also raised with him
through faith in the power of God,
who raised him from the dead.
And even when you were dead in transgressions
and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
he brought you to life along with him,
having forgiven us all our transgressions;
obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims,

and he spent the night in prayer to God.
When day came, he called his disciples to himself,
and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles:
Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew,
James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,
Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus,
Simon who was called a Zealot,
and Judas the son of James,
and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. And he came down with them and stood on a stretch of level ground.
A great crowd of his disciples and a large number of the people
from all Judea and Jerusalem
and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon
came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases;
and even those who were tormented by unclean spirits were cured.

He called his disciples to himself. (Luke 6:13) Jesus must have been tired that evening as he "departed to the mountain to pray" (Luke 6:12). Yet he spent the whole night in prayer! Then, instead of taking a nap the next morning, Jesus chose his twelve apostles. Finally, he went out and ministered powerfully to the crowds by teaching, healing, and delivering them (6:17-19). Can you discern a pattern here? Something that we can imitate? Before we make important decisions or go out to serve or minister, we first need to spend time with our heavenly Father, just as Jesus did. In a world that places so much emphasis on what we do or what we can accomplish, it can be hard to grasp the importance of spending time just being with God. It can almost feel like we are wasting time or being unproductive when we could be serving or doing something that seems more urgent. And yet Jesus would tell us that there is nothing more important that we can do! Just imagine what that night spent before his Father did for him. In prayer, Jesus received clarity about which twelve disciples he should choose to be part of his inner circle. In prayer, he received consolation and was given the strength and courage he needed to accomplish his mission. And in prayer, Jesus simply received the assurance of his Father's love. God will do the same for us. We don't always know the challenges that lie ahead, but our Father does, and as we pray, he will equip us with the grace and strength we need to meet those challenges. He will give us the wisdom to make decisions for our lives that help us to fulfill the mission he has given to us. Above all, he will reassure us of his great love for us. We might already know the importance of spending time with the Lord, but even so, we might rush through prayer on busy days or even be tempted to skip it altogether when we feel overwhelmed. Yet this is when we need prayer the most. So the next time you are tempted to miss your prayer time, imagine Jesus on the mountain, calling you to himself. He wants to spend time with you. Make time to be with him. "Lord, remind me of how much I need you, even on my busiest days." Colossians 2:6-15

For to be a real human means to be real and holy.
That is, to be created in our Father's image. That is who is revealing the truth and the light.
On that note...and for that we have been chosen. | We pray today:

and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles......" end of Gospel verse. | From Bishop Barren: "Friends, today's Gospel recounts Jesus selecting and appointing the Apostles. Bible scholar and theologian N.T. Wright has explained why Jesus commissioned twelve disciples as Apostles.
Wright tells us that when a first-century Jew spoke of the arrival of God's kingdom, he was taken to mean something very specific. He was announcing that the temple was going to be restored, that the proper worship of Yahweh would obtain, that the enemies of Israel would be dealt with, and that, above all, the tribes of the Lord—and through them, the tribes of the world—would be gathered.
Recall the great vision from the second chapter of Isaiah: "The mountain of the Lord's house shall be established as the highest mountain. . . . All nations shall stream toward it." This is why Jesus chose twelve disciples, evocative of the twelve tribes. They would be the prototype and the catalyst for the gathering of Israel and hence the gathering of everyone. They would be the fundamental community and sign of unity. " end Quote Bishop Barren.
........ This is why we are an apostolic church and more...we are said to be;
One,
Holy,
Catholic,
And apostolic Church. This is what we believe.
And to be the last we have to be the first....to be apostolic...we must be one and everything in between...holy and catholic....pure and for the world to be saved through our Lord Jesus Christ. And once Apostles were chisen...what did He go do?
Tend the flock.
Feed the sheep.
Cure and heal them.
Get your hands dirty...get involved...be one with them. My dad wanted faith and unity in the family...this is a true calling from our Father. Let us pray:
Lord we are following the Apostles...the catholic Bishops your guides and pastors with the hands and feet of Christ in the priests...your very Self...body, blood, souk, and divinity. |  Click To Hear | Random Bible Verse 1
